All EDGEHOG services are designed to be hardware independent, however, some of the most suitable SECO SBCs have been selected to be used as industrial gateways.

ARM-based boards

SBC-C23

The SBC-C23 is a Smart Edge Compute Unit, built on the reliable and used embedded NXP i.MX 6SoloX Processor enables multi-core edge computing and networking while ensuring wide connectivity. As far as memory is concerned, the device features a 32-bit DDR3L memory soldered on-board, up to 1 GB.

Regarding the interfaces, the board features: networking interfaces - such as 2x Fast Ethernet RJ-45 ports, Wifi, BT LE combo module with on-board antenna and an LTE modem module - but also other interfaces like 2x CAN port, 4x analog inputs, I2C, 2x PWM and many others. The device is indeed a multi-protocol bridging for industrial PLCs and smart factory devices. The SBC-C23 also features a battery to keep the board on in the event of a power loss to allow the sending of data and alerts indicating the possible malfunction of the entire system. Fields of application include Home Automation, Surveillance, Medical among the many.

Thanks to these features, and very low power consumption, it is a single board computer perfect as a gateway in an industrial IoT scenario.

SBC-C61

The SBC-C61 is a single board computer based on NXP i.MX 8M Mini Applications Processors. Most notably, SECO has early access to this processor.

It is based on a Heterogeneous Multi-core Processing Architecture for edge node computing and multimedia. GPU-wise, the product mounts a GC320 2D accelerator and a GCNanoUltra 3D accelerator. Another relevant aspect is connectivity. In this regard, the board features fast eth, Wi-Fi, up to 2x RS-232 or RS-485 or CAN, and opt modems with SIM slot or eSIM. The memory is a soldered onboard LPDDR4-3000 (up to 4GB). Ultimately, the SBC-C61 is ideal for edge computing, Internet of Things applications, multimedia devices, and visual computing.

SBC-B68-eNUC

The SBC-B68-eNUC is a flexible and expandable full industrial x86 embedded NUC™ SBC with the Intel® Atom X Series, Intel® Celeron® J / N Series and Intel® Pentium® N Series (formerly code name Apollo Lake) Processors.

Also available in the industrial temperature version, the board offers a wide range of connectivity options through WLAN and WWAN M.2 slots as well as wide input voltage range. Featuring Quad Channel soldered down LPDDR4-2400 memory, up to 8GB, thanks to its versatile expansion capabilities it is particularly suitable for embedded applications like HMI, multimedia devices, industrial IoT and industrial automation.

Microcontrollers-based boards

Easy Edge

Easy Edge is a boxed module with a form factor of just 110 x 91 x 31 mm based on the Espressif module ESP32-WROVER. This is an off-the-shelf solution for the industrial market and beyond, ideal for retrofitting legacy systems that need to be upgraded to smart devices, i.e. it allows you to collect data from a PLC or sensor via serial port, WiFi, BT and send it to the cloud via the standard WiFi connection or via 2G or LTE-M/NB-IoT.

ESP32-WROVER is a powerful, generic WiFi-BT-BLE MCU module that targets a wide variety of applications, ranging from low-power sensor networks to the most demanding tasks. The board is also equipped with a GSM/GPRS module, SIM868, or Multi-Ban CAT-M and NB-IoT 4g Module, SIM7080G, for communication of data to cloud if WiFi is unavailable. Both of them also offer GNSS (GPS) functionality. This module is suitable both for IoT applications, due to its rich connectivity, and for industrial applications, as it can accept supply voltages in the range +9VDC ÷ + 24VDC. Inside the system, a LiPo 2000mAh backup battery allows the working of the module also in absence of a direct power supply.
